ABOUT US
the name
the name J&R Events is an homage to my late parents, John & Rita. my mother is pictured here with my daughter as she wore my mothers dress for her wedding. the only chance of me starting an event planning business is all because of my parents. my dad had his own catering business, among the many things he did. i grew up mostly in a commercial kitchen, serving all kinds of events, but many weddings. my dad did everything including set up, food, cake and take down, a one man show you could say. he is my inspiration. +
the reason
my father was known in our town for his bread, "John's bread", which i cannot perfect, but also for his kindness and generosity. he gave all of himself to every banquet he served. he could not have done all he did without the loving support and help of my mother. the quiet, strong, steadfast anchor of the family. she was his rock, and ours, and prayerfully held all of our hearts in hers. he always wanted to help people, it was his joy to see people enjoy themselves and his much loved food! he had a witty sense of humor and was quick with his jokes and laughter. it is my desire to bring his cooking, hard work, spirit and humor to those in my path. i learned everything i know from him, truly daddy's little girl, the youngest of 9.

the first miracle of jesus, at the wedding feast, and the passages about being hospitable and generous are integral to me. i take them very personally and thank god for what i have come to know about serving in this capacity.
